General Description:
The full scope of Surveying and Mapping work and computations performed at Pasco County Surveying and Mapping Division and Computer Assisted Drafting (CAD) work in the preparation of all types of Surveys and Maps produced here, and supervision of Surveying Technicians as subordinates doing similar work.
Essential Job Functions:
Reduces field notes, balances traverses, runs closures, calculates sectional breakdowns, calculates acreages and other various trigonometric and geometric calculations for any and all types of Surveying and Mapping performed at Pasco County. Prepares coordinates, coordinate work sheets, preliminary and final right:of:way maps, legal descriptions and sketches, boundary, quantity, location, any type of map or sketch required, and topographic survey maps and sketches. Researches and keeps track of benchmarks, legal descriptions, and sketches. Performs duties of survey party team member in the field if required. In CADD, downloads field data, processes field data, ports field Surveying data into CADD, and prepares any and all type of Surveying and Mapping maps, sketches, documents, etc. required at Pasco County. Supervises and schedules subordinates doing similar work. Performs related work as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to make accurate and neat drawings, knowledge of advanced Surveying and Mapping mathematics including geometry and trigonometry. Knowledge of drafting and surveying principles. Skilled in the use of AutoCAD and coordinate geometry software. Skilled in the process of taking raw field collected data and field notes, downloading, processing, and bringing data into CADD and producing any and all type of Surveying and Mapping products required. Ability to analyze specifically assigned problems, gather and organize the pertinent data, and arrive at valid conclusions. Ability to operate a computer, proficient with DOS/Windows, AutoCAD 2000 or higher, Microsoft Office Suite software (Word, Excel, etc) or Works word processing, and Carlson Surveying Software. Ability to supervise, schedule, train, evaluate, counsel, and review subordinate employees
Minimum Requirements:
Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects. Ability to communicate effectively using speaking, hearing, writing, and vision skills. Ability to work outdoors if required. Requires walking, stooping, and bending.

Graduation from high school, vocational school, or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. College level courses in surveying, engineering, geometry, or trigonometry preferred. Two years of survey calculating experience which includes working with AutoCAD and field office integration.
