The School of Arts and Sciences is currently seeking qualified candidates for a full-time, nine (9) month, tenure track, Assistant Professor, faculty position to contribute to both graduate and undergraduate courses in creative writing and literature. An exceptional candidate possessing a doctorate degree with experience may be considered at the Associate level. A candidate possessing a master’s degree with 18 graduate study hours in the discipline and demonstrated teaching with appropriate years of experience in higher education may be considered at the Instructor level. Please have transcripts and certified evaluations mailed to: Saint Leo University Academic Affairs MC 2006 PO Box 6665 Saint Leo, Florida 33574 Responsibilities Saint Leo University HR Suite :: Posting Show :: PeopleAdmin The faculty member will be required to: * Teach a 12-credit hour course load comprised of undergraduate and graduate courses per year; * Advise undergraduate or graduate students as needed; * Engage in curriculum development as needed; * Support recruiting efforts; * Demonstrate professional development (eg, publication); * Undertake community service in keeping with the school’s Benedictine values; * Teach undergraduate courses on-ground and graduate courses online during the academic year, as well as contributing to the graduate summer residency; * Be able to teach traditional and non-traditional age students; and * Demonstrate the ability to use discipline-related computer programs. Qualifications Required Qualifications: *A terminal degree in English, Creative Writing, or a related field (MFA or PhD) by the summer 2017 starting date; *A record of publication consistent with early career success; preference will be given to candidates with one book from a commercial, university, or small press, or significant publication in top-tier journals. *Evidence of successful teaching experience at the college/university level; *Significant potential for continued successful publication of creative work; *Demonstrated commitment to collaboration in the life and work of a unified department. Preferred Qualifications: This is an open genre search, but preference will be given to applications who demonstrate a record of successful publication, and the ability to work and teach in more than one genre.
