The Florida Department of Health is responsible for the health and safety of all citizens and visitors to the state. As a public health agency, the Florida Department of Health must monitor the health status of Floridians, diagnose and investigate health problems, and mobilize local communities to address health:related issues. The Florida Department of Health develops policies and plans that support health goals, enforce laws and regulations that protect the health of all residents and visitors, and link people to needed health care services. The Florida Department of Health also provides specialized assistance to pregnant women, infants, and children with special health care needs, regulates health care practitioners, and provides medical disability determinations.
Health Services Representative (HSR)
The incumbent in this position may work in a clinical setting, at the county jail, field setting or office setting. This position is responsible for independently identify and contacting persons known or suspected of spreading or being exposed to communicable disease such as syphilis, HIV/AIDS and other conditions in a culturally sensitive manner.
Note: This position is currently located 1105 East Kennedy Blvd, Tampa FL 33602. It will be relocated when our new University Area Community Health Center Clinic opens at 13601 North 22nd Street Tampa, FL 33613
Responsibilities may include:
:Locating and notifying individuals who has been exposed and/or tested positive for communicable disease such as syphilis and HIV/AIDS in a confidential manner.
:Providing counseling and education to clients
:Referring at risk individuals for testing, clinical evaluation, treatment and other disease preventable services
:Interviewing infected and non:infected patients to identify partners and other contacts to stop transmission and prevent adverse health outcomes.
:Serving clients directly via phone or face:to:face in a clinic, jail, home or other setting such as a homeless shelter.
:Developing, implementing and evaluating education programs regarding various programs such as HIV/AIDS, TB, Immunizations and Refugee Health.
:Assisting with marketing and special events.
:Field work including directly observed therapy of medications, assuring compliance with treatment plans.
:Assisting with outbreaks of various communicable diseases.
:Working with healthcare providers in the community to assist refugee patients with scheduling of follow:up appointments for primary care and specialty care providers.
:Attending various task force and other types of community meetings.
:Attending health fairs within the community; these activities may occur before, during or after normal working hours and/or on weekends or holidays.
:Bachelors Degree in health and/or social science.
:Valid Florida drivers license or able to get one within 30 days of
