MBA is seeking an Assistant General Counsel/HR Consultant with 1-5 years of HR consulting experience, litigation experience (preferably private sector employment litigation), and/or in-house counsel experience, who has a strong interest in business, particularly franchise unit or hospitality operations, and a desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and fun environment.

Main Responsibilities Include:
• Consulting with CEOs, franchise owners, entrepreneurs, and all levels of management on federal and state compliance matters.
• Providing HR expertise to clients during investigations involving discrimination, harassment, and other misconduct/policy violations.
• Monitoring client actions regarding harassment and discrimination investigations in order to protect MBA’s exposure to liability.
• Reviewing employment policies, handbooks, disciplinary actions, etc., to ensure compliance with federal and state law.
• Researching and analyzing statutes, regulations, and case law at the federal, state and local levels.
• Drafting position statements and correspondence in response to inquiries from plaintiff’s attorneys, and state and federal administrative agencies.
• Traveling to client worksites to deliver management training, or to attend a speaking engagement at a trade show or conference.
• Serving as an HR representative in negotiations, settlement conferences, and mediations with state and federal agencies on behalf of clients.
• Serving as a managerial resource within MBA by answering inter-departmental questions, providing compliance updates, and assisting the Director of Human Resources with internal team member development, as needed.

Required Skills:
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment with the flexibility to shift between tasks frequently.
• Aptitude for communicating with and advising directors, officers, and upper leadership within an organization.
• Public speaking experience and an ability to convey complicated concepts at a fundamental level.
• Excellent legal writing and reasoning skills.
• Demonstrated analytical and strategic thinking skills to resolve complex issues.
• Occasional local and out-of-state travel required.
• Spanish-speaking strongly preferred.

Required Experience:
• Active member in good standing of the Florida Bar.
• 1-5 years of HR consulting experience, litigation experience (preferably private sector employment litigation), and/or in-house counsel experience.
